It was a special evening for Andrea Bocelli at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on April 24. In addition to performing with his longtime friend Laura Pausini, the legendary Italian tenor also received the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award for a lengthy career with broad impact for Latin music and beyond.
“I’ve always tried to do things I like to do, because it’s only this way you can do something well,” Bocelli said backstage at the ceremony. “In music you need passion, humility and patience. With classical music, you need to be concentrated and have discipline.”
During the show, Pausini and Bocelli performed their 2009 hit, "Vive Ya," a song nominated for Record of the Year at the Latin Grammy Awards.
“It’s more than a collaboration, it’s a friendship,” Bocelli said of Pausini. “We’re very good friends even though there are very few opportunities to be together.”
The singer also noted that he’s interested in working on a new album in the new future. “I hope to find some beautiful songs to for an album that I will create soon since it has been so many years that I have done so,” he says.
