Ricky Martin, as he prepares to release a new album this year and readies a World Cup musical production, has reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart and is a social media force with a global audience. He has also been on top of the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart 11 times and achieved the fourth-most No. 1s of any artist during the chart's 28-year history. On the Hot Albums chart he also has five No. 1s including his most recent project "Musica + Alma + Sexo," which had a two-week run at the top of the chart.
Fonsi, who in February released the first single (“Corazón En La Maleta”) from his upcoming new album, this week announced the world premiere of the music video on Telemundo. With a recording career approaching two decades, the singer holds Billboard Magazine's title as the “Leader of Latin Music’s New Generation,” and he has earned multiple platinum and gold records in Mexico, Spain, U.S. and Puerto Rico, among other places. He holds the longest running No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Pop Airplay chart for “No Me Doy Por Vencido,” which spent 30 weeks at the top in 2008. He has six no. 1s on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs and three No. 1s on the Top Latin Albums chart.
Banda El Recodo began this year with the release of the single “Consecuencia de mis actos” and recently returned to their native Culiacan, Sinaloa to perform for the first time in a decade at the city’s famed Carnival with more than 80,000 in fans celebrating the group’s musical legacy. This year the band is a finalist for two awards including Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and Regional Mexican Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. Having released more than 175 albums, the band has had five No. 1s and 22 top 10 titles on the Regional Mexican Albums chart. On regional Mexican Airplay they’ve had 13 No. 1s, the fourth-most No. 1s of any artist on the chart.
The awards show will take place at the BankUnited Center on the University of Miami campus in Florida. That same week is the Billboard Latin Music Conference, celebrating its 25th anniversary. For more information, go to BillboardLatinConference.com.
