| Although the Billboard.com staff thought that "Rolling in the Deep" was the strongest song of the five nominees, we forecasted an upset in Bruno Mars' favor. Yet Adele was not to be denied, and earned Song of the Year along with producer/writer Paul Epworth. Although we didn't see it coming, the fans sure did, with 59.5% going in the "Deep" direction and only 21.5% agreeing with our "Grenade" prediction. |

Poll Results Nicki Minaj: 63.2% The Band Perry: 13.3% Bon Iver: 9.5% J. Cole: 7.1% Skrillex: 6.8% |
| In the only major surprise of the night, folk-rock act Bon Iver (aka Justin Vernon) stole the Best New Artist trophy from more well-known acts like Nicki Minaj and Skrillex. We thought Justin Vernon should win the award, but incorrectly saw a victory for country trio The Band Perry. The fans who voted in our poll also got it wrong, but in a different direction: 63.2% thought Minaj would emerge victorious, compared to only 9.5% for Bon Iver. |

| A sentimental favorite, Tony Bennett and the late Amy Winehouse's collaboration for his "Duets II" album triumphed over younger artists like Coldplay and Foster The People, as we expected. The fans didn't see it coming, with over 47% of the voters leaning toward Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" and only 15% going for the Bennett/Winehouse combo. |
