The video for hip-hop trio Tanya Morgan's "Bang & Boogie" -- from last year's deeply slept-on "Brooklynati" album -- features group members Von Pea, Donwill, and Ilyas reliving the treacherous throes of young love.
Donwill ends up in the principal's office and blames it "on the nookie" (shout out to Limp Bizkit), while Ilyas' ladyfriend twirls her hair around her finger and wields a butcher knife. Meanwhile, Von Pea recalls, "Whitney is with me in the Gap dressing room/This is real dumb, but this is real fun."
"Bang & Boogie" defies most rap video stereotypes -- except of course, for its inclusion of beautiful ladies, which can be chalked up to the song's subject matter. Curiously, though the guys' moves are choreographed and the girls' are not. Note to Tanya Morgan: next time, give us a guys vs. girls dance-off.
