Katy Perry Dedicates Leaked 'Firework' Video to LGBT Campaign

Katy Perry's new video, for the third "Teenage Dream" single "Firework," leaked online this morning, revealing that the singer took a different direction with her latest. "Firework" was expected to be released in the coming days, with Perry strongly hinting as much via her Twitter account.

Video: Katy Perry, "Firework"

Filmed in Budapest, Hungary, the "Firework" video finds Katy Perry at the center of a joyous outdoor dance party among fans. Instead of Perry's usual kitschy sex appeal and bright colors, "Firework" is feel-good video about personal acceptance.

Extending that theme, the singer recently dedicated the "Firework" video to the It Gets Better campaign, which rallies against harrasment in the LGBT community, via her Twitter account. Perry is just one of many celebs to support the It Gets Better campaign, whose relevance is even more crucial in light of recent LGBT-related suicides. It's a fitting message for "Firework," however, considering one of the video's plotlines is a young gay man struggling to feel comfortable in his own skin.

Reminiscent of Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" with its message, "Firework" is a welcomed change of pace from the pop star.

Warm and fuzzies aside, the fireworks exploding from Perry's chest in the video are down-right distracting. We know, we know -- she means well.
