On his new video for "Cole World" cut "Nobody's Perfect" featuring Missy Elliott, J. Cole continues his introverted streak with shots of serious bedroom brooding and cosmic chilling as he finds himself emotionally confused.
J. Cole featuring Missy Elliott, "Nobody's Perfect"
As the beat creeps with a sexy guitar sample, the video begins with some strange horror-movie imagery that quickly shifts to Missy's smooth vocal hooks. Cole works out his issues in a normal empty bedroom and a dark bedroom fitted with studio lights, faces an inquisition from an enlightened Missy, and even spends some time rapping behind space rays while standing on something that looks like the sun. Missy sounds rejuvenated on the track, choosing to flex her pleasant pipes instead of throwing down a spitfire verse, revealing a side to her artistry that's sometimes overlooked.
"Nobody's Perfect" is the third single off J. Cole's debut album, "Cole World: The Sideline Story," which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its release last September. The long-awaited next Missy Elliott album may surface later this year, but details remain sparse.
