How does "N---as in Paris" become "Ninjas in London"? If Katy Perry covers it for BBC's Radio 1 Live Lounge, of course. The pop superstar presented her take on Jay-Z and Kanye West's oft-performed banger, censoring herself multiple times and doing away with the Will Ferrell-Jon Heder dialogue altogether.
"This is about to get REAL embarrassing," Perry tells the crowd before pulling her Yankees cap low and rocking out to the acoustic recreation of Hit Boy's infamous beat. The singer's takeover of "Paris" is fairly faithful and well-orchestrated, with a little bit of her inner diva letting loose on the chorus line "Ball so hard motherf----as wanna fine me."
While Perry's cover effectively won over the crowd at the Radio 1 taping, her own music isn't performing too poorly either -- "Part of Me," the lead single from her "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" reissue, came in at No. 10 on last week's Hot 100 after debuting at No. 1 on the chart.
