Following the grand example of Karmin and Lana Del Rey, One Direction made their "Saturday Night Live" debut on Saturday (Apr. 7), with performances of "What Makes You Beautiful" and "One Thing."
Buoyed by a full band and a legion of screaming fans, Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis seemed just as confident on the "SNL" stage as they were during their "Today Show" and Kids' Choice Awards performances. Special props are in order for Zayn, who looked a little like Adam Lambert in a red jacket and with perfectly coiffed hair, and Harry, who always knows when exactly to rock a bow tie to maximum effect.
1D recently made chart history by scoring a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart, becoming the first U.K. act to see their debut album start in the top spot. Their headlining trek through North America kicks off on May 24 in Fairfax, Va.
