And lo, two 2012 buzzworthy artists have collided on video. Releasing what she called a "trailer" for her "National Anthem" music video, Lana Del Rey has issued a nearly four minute long mini-movie, featuring rapper A$AP Rocky as an admirer of LDR's timeless beauty, on Tuesday (June 26).
The video features quick cuts of Rocky puffing on a cigar in a nightclub while Del Rey smiles from the stage. Interspersed are grainy glimpses of the "Video Games" singer decked out like Jackie Kennedy with mile-high hair, as she drives in an antique car while Rocky plays her blinged-out JFK. Of course, it wouldn't be a Lana Del Rey music video without black and white footage of tropes like American flags, and snippets of the songstress pouting dramatically as the camera pans by.
Rocky called Del Rey "my dream girl" in an April interview with Billboard.com, when news leaked about "Ridin'," an eagerly anticipated collaboration between the two musicians. "You didn't know about me being a huge Lana Del Rey fan? That's all I kept talking about all winter," the rapper added.
Aside from a few festival appearances, Del Rey has flown under the radar since her controversial "Saturday Night Live" performance in late January. At a Los Angeles show in early June, she premiered a new song called "Body Electric," the chorus of which can be found as her Twitter profile description. Her debut album, "Born to Die," peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in January.
Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky is currently finishing his debut album, set for a fall release by Polo Grounds/RCA/A$AP Worldwide.
