Dave Matthews Band's video for "Mercy" embraces the song's themes of unity and harmony in a new collaborative video, made with the help of a few thousand fans.

According to the band, 14,334 people provided original photos and videos for the inspirational clip, a James Frost-directed mash-up video that features only glimpses of the band and focuses on the fans.

In the band's Billboard cover story, frontman Matthews said that "Mercy" is a song about "love of the world and merciful love." The song is the debut single from Dave Matthews Band's new album, Sept. 11's "Away From the World."

The band's upcoming eighth studio album follows 2009's "Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King," which has sold nearly 1.2 million copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. "Away From the World" also reunites the group with producer Steve Lillywhite, who worked on their first three albums.

Matthews told Billboard that he hopes this release "inspires [people] to find the things that they love, inspires them to feel good, to feel love, or ambition, or feel powerful. Whatever they need."
