"Inception" may have lost the Best Picture race to "The King's Speech" at the Oscars on Sunday, but the drama received a nice consolation prize: a tip of the cap from Lil Wayne. The rapper pays homage to the film in his music video for "6 Foot 7 Foot," which hit the web this morning (Mar. 3) before it officially premieres tonight on MTV.
The Hype Williams-directed clip kicks off by spoofing "Inception's" bathtub scene, with Weezy receiving the dunk when his associates are unable to wake him up. Once the rapper's eyes are open, he begins playing off of the many similes and metaphors in the "6 Foot 7 Foot" lyrics: lasagna, twins, a cereal named "Huh-nee Knut" and Lil Wayne as professional boxer are all featured in the clip. As Corey Gunz takes center stage for his verse, Wayne is shown recreating the "Inception" sequence in which a van plummets off a bridge.
"6 Foot 7 Foot" is the first taste of Lil Wayne's highly anticipated "Tha Carter IV," which will be released this spring. The rapper will kick off his "I Am Still Music" spring tour with Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Travis Barker on Mar. 18 in Buffalo, N.Y.
