Katy Perry's otherworldly video for "E.T." -- the reigning No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart this week -- hit the web today (Mar. 31) at 12 noon EST.
The futuristic clip finds Perry as an extra-terrestrial and later a centaur-like creature who finds unlikely love, while the song's collaborator, Kanye West, floats through space. Viewers also see a brief moment of product placement in the clip, as Perry dons Vogue-brand glasses. Watch below.
The special effects-heavy "E.T." clip marks a visual departure for an oft-candycoated Perry -- and stands as one of the singer's most visually stunning videos to date. Perry's "E.T." makeup, which was rumored to be quite the grueling experience, appears particularly noteworthy.
Earlier today, MTV premiered a one-minute preview of the "E.T." video, and the clip will see its on-air premiere tonight at 7:54 p.m. on MTV.
The space-age love song "E.T." is the fourth single off Perry's Grammy-nominated LP "Teenage Dream." Just yesterday, the album became the first in more than six years to yield four No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
Regarding her new No. 1 song, Perry told Billboard.com: "I am so thrilled that 'E.T.' has landed at No. 1. I want to thank all the fans who contributed to this amazing feat and radio, which has been an essential part of my continued existence. I truly appreciate all the support of my creative twists and turns."
