Lady Gaga Finds 'Faith in My Creativity' in HBO Special Preview

Lady Gaga muses on her quick rise to superstardom -- and offers a prayer for those not yet there -- in a new promo clip for "Lady Gaga Presents: The Monster Ball Tour," the concert documentary premiering May 7 on HBO, that was released today (Apr. 26).

The video, titled "Lady Gaga's Backseat Prayer," finds the pop star discussing the merits of fame with some friends, as their car makes its way to Madison Square Garden. "My faith in my creativity and my artistry has nothing to do with 'making it,'" says Gaga. "When we were playing for nothing downtown, it was still like we'd made it. We still felt like we were superstars."

The promo clip shows the NYC-raised singer comfortably navigating her old city stomping grounds: she orders a cup of coffee while wearing her "Born This Way" jean jacket, and walking down a familiar block in a leotard. When she arrives at Madison Square Garden, which was where the concert documentary was filmed on Feb. 21-22, Gaga says, "Do you know how many times I came to this arena? I saw everybody. And now they're opening these gates up for us."

The clip ends with shots of the two MSG shows, which is paired with the audio of Gaga's pre-show prayer. Grasping hands with members of her crew, the singer says, "They used to always tell me, 'You will never be the main star, because you're too ethnic, you're too Italian, you're too out-there.' It doesn't matter who you are or where you've come from or how much money you've got in your pocket: you have your own destiny and your own life ahead of you."

The promotional video follows the release of another clip from the documentary, in which Gaga breaks down in tears and says that she sometimes still feels "like a loser kid in high school." Two weeks after "The Monster Ball Tour" premieres on HBO, Lady Gaga's sophomore album, "Born This Way," will be released on May 23. The music video for second single "Judas," which debuted at No. 10 on last week's Hot 100, will premiere during an episode of "American Idol" next week.
