It was an Adele takeover on U.S. primetime TV last night (May 10): Immediately after "Glee's" take on "Rolling in the Deep" aired on Fox, Adele took the stage of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" to sing the newly-crowned No. 1 single. Watch her "DWTS" performance below.
Despite an impressive "Rolling in the Deep" performance, Adele did not return to the "DWTS" stage to perform her planned second number, a cover of the Aretha Franklin/Carole King hit, "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." She explained that her voice would not be able to hit those high notes, telling host Tom Bergeron: "I was going to be covering 'Natural Woman,' but my voice is going a bit... it's knackered and I need to save it."
Adele added: "[Aussie singer] Delta Goodrem has stepped in with an hour's notice, so thanks very much. I am gutted."
Adele's "21" currently tops the Billboard 200 chart, while "Rolling in the Deep" reigns on the Hot 100 chart.
