Taylor Swift Brings Out Nicki Minaj for 'Super Bass' Duet: Video
Hours after accepting the MTV Video Music Award for Best Hip-Hop Video on Sunday night (Aug. 28), Nicki Minaj crashed Taylor Swift's concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to perform the song that won her the award, "Super Bass," alongside the country star.
Once the song kicks in, Swift, standing on an onstage staircase in a short purple dress, begins rapping along before Minaj steps onstage in a blonde wig and an outfit that's just as colorful as her VMAs getup. At 1:13, Minaj starts running through the song's second verse as Swift mouths the words next to her; at 1:58, Minaj shimmies her hips downward, and the country singer gamely follows with an extra bit of sass.
Before she hit the VMA stage in her eye-popping outfit, Minaj shed some more details about her still-in-the-works sophomore album, which she says will feature her male alter ego, Roman Zolanzki. "The new is going to have a lot of Roman on it," Minaj tells AOL's The Booombox. "If you're not familiar with Roman, then you will be familiar with him real soon. He's a boy that lives inside of me, and he's gay. He'll be on there a lot. I have a lot of surprises that I don't want to give away, but I just know that everyone will be more than satisfied with new album."
Swift did not appear at the MTV VMAs after performing her I-forgive-you- Kanye-West song, "Innocent," at last year's ceremony. The North American leg of the country star's Speak Now world tour ends on Nov. 22 in New York.
