Uncharted ranks artists - those who have not charted previously with Billboard - using a formula blending weekly additions of friends / fans / followers across the world's leading social networking sites (MySpace, Twitter, Facebook), as well as weekly artist page views and weekly song plays on influential music outlets (YouTube, Last.FM, SoundCloud).
This week in tweets: Brazilian rock band Pitty (37-25) showed the second highest Twitter boost in followers--after Diggy--with 18,000 added. Next in line, Brazilian pop rock band Jota Quest (8,400), rapper and actor Childish Gambino (2,800), and YouTube stars Maddi Jane (2,600) and Dave Days (2,200) also showed large following gains this week.
Former Google employee-turned-NYC-based rapper/songwriter Hoodie Allen makes a tremendous jump from No. 29 to No. 7, breaking into the top 10 with a gain of 83,000 SoundCloud plays. Though no new music is out, his latest album "Leap Year" is due out this summer. The most recent track on his SoundCloud page-"NYC Is Killing Me" featuring Jamie XX-dates back to four months ago, but since its March debut, it has accumulated nearly 20,000 plays.
As for the rest of the top ten, DJ BL3ND (No. 1), Traphik (No. 2), Girl Talk (No. 3), Tyler Ward (No. 5) and Maddi Jane (No. 6) hold their respective places while Colette Carr (7-4), Your Favorite Enemies (10-9), and Dave Days (13-10) mix up the order.
