Bobby Shmurda Denied Bail Again: Report
Bobby Shmurda has reportedly lost another bid for bail in Manhattan court on Monday (Oct. 5), leading up to his upcoming drug-dealing and weapons-possession trial.
Shmurda (real name: Ackquille Pollard) has been in jail since December with a bail set at $2 million, charged with conspiracy counts, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and more.
In June, Oct. 5 had been set as the trail date for Shmurda and 14 other alleged GS9 gang members, who were arrested Dec. 17, 2014, for crimes alleging they dealt drugs, sold guns and committed violent crimes. But at the hearing, Page Six reports, Judge James Burke set a new trail date for Feb. 22.
Shmurda's new attorney, Alex Spiro of the law firm Brafman & Associates, objected to the new date and requested his client be released pending the trial.
In response, special narcotics prosecutor Nigel Farinha argued that Shmurda has already had at least four bail applications denied, according to Page Six. Meanwhile, he said, the case against the 21-year-old rapper has only gotten stronger.
Judge Burke denied the bail request.
