The Juice Podcast 6/13/14: Nicki Minaj's 'The Pink Print,' 'Pills N Potions,' Evolution & 50 Cent's Sales
Nicki Minaj's reign is unstoppable.
This week, the singer/rapper earns her 17th top 10 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart as "Pills N Potions" moves from the No. 11 slot to No. 10.
The climb extends her record for having the most top 10s by a female rapper, with Missy Elliott coming in second with 12 top 10s.
For this week's episode of The Juice Podcast, Myspace Editor Steven Horowitz and Complex magazine's News Editor Lauren Nostro join me to discuss all things Nicki Minaj.
We discuss her 17 R&B/Hip-Hop Songs top 10s, "Pills N Potions," her style and sonic evolution and the creative process behind her upcoming third studio album, "The Pink Print."
The three of us also cover questions that have revolved around Nicki Minaj: Should she be referred as a female rapper? Did exploring pop music hurt or help her?
We close the episode by discussing 50 Cent's "Animal Ambition." It debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at No. 4, with 47,000 copies sold in the week ending June 8, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Steven believes 50 Cent is a nostalgic act, while Lauren thinks 50's marketing execution may have affected his first week sales.
