Nicki Minaj "Pills N Potions"

After hyping it on the red carpet of the Billboard Music Awards, Nicki Minaj's new single is here. The Dr. Luke-produced "Pills N Potions" is a sincere, slow-burning song that is set to be the first single from Minaj's upcoming studio album "The Pink Print," due later this year.

"Pills N Potions" sounds like a crowd-pleaser with a little something for everyone -- a chorus reminiscent of a Rihanna ballad, coupled with verses that showcase Nicki rapping about close-to-home subject matter she's called "my heart n soul" and "a true story."

"Pills 'n potions, we're overdosin'/I'm angry but I still love you," opens the song, setting the stage for a bittersweet song about taking the good with the bad. The chorus blooms with chants of "I still love."

The YMCMB artist first dropped the song's title and other details on Sunday night at the BBMAs in an interview with Billboard. "It sounds like urgency," Minaj said. "It sounds like betrayal. It sounds like running. It sounds like fainting. It sounds like love. It sounds like -- *gasp!*"

Minaj was on hand to introduce the "Tennis Court" performance of one of her greatest admirers, Lorde.

The Queens-raised rapper/singer has shared two other new songs this year: the Soulja Boy-collab "Yasss Bish!" and "Chi-Raq."
