Shortly after his Friday performance at the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Ala., Wiz Khalifa revealed that he’ll soon be releasing a new mixtape.
The rapper told MTV News on May 16 that the mixtape, titled “28 Grams,” is “gonna drop fast. You should go home.” No specific release date was given.
Earlier this year, Khalifa sat down with Billboard to discuss his forthcoming album, "Blacc Hollywood," which doesn’t yet have a release date.
"The music is pretty much there for the album," he said in February. "It's not all the way put together, but a good bit of it is finished."
"Blacc Hollywood" will feature appearances by Adele and Miley Cyrus. One track that's been shared is the fist-pumping crowd-pleaser "We Dem Boyz," the first single off the album.
"I like 'We Dem Boyz' as the first single because of the energy," Khalifa explained. "It reaches so many audiences other than just a rap audience. It's kind of like how 'Black and Yellow' was – a big sports song to get everybody riled. It's more of anthem."
The rapper told MTV News that the forthcoming “28 Grams” mixtape is “more than a teaser” for the album, “it’s gonna get the Khalifa train rolling.”
Khalifa is scheduled for numerous music festivals through late July, and from there will embark on the Under the Influence of Music tour of North American amphitheaters with Young Jeezy, Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign and Rich Homie Quan.
