NBC's "Saturday Night Live" provides a huge stage and opportunity for artists of usually high wattage to perform. So when the show-runners announced that relative unknown and newbie UK vocalist Sam Smith would take the stage on March 29, many were left scratching their heads. "Who?"
Well, Smith--a soulful crooner whose biggest hit single comes via featured appearance on duo Disclosure's 2012 jam "Latch"--made the most of his opportunity last night. When host, comedian Louis C.K., first introduced Smith, he performed "Stay With Me."
With a pianist and string player, Smith followed with yet another loving cut, "Lay Me Down."
The 21-year-old certianly made a splash last night. Let us know what you thought of his "SNL" go on Facebook and Twitter.
