Wiz Khalifa has a big year ahead of him -- a new album, headlining tour, and a host of intriguing collaborations. Billboard convinced him to take a break from chilling with Miley Cyrus in LA to stop by its New York studio for an in-person update.
"The music is pretty much there for the album," Wiz says of new LP "Blacc Hollywood," due to be released in the coming months via Atlantic and Rostrum Records. "It's not all the way put together, but a good bit of it is finished."
One track that's been shared is the fist-pumping crowd-pleaser "We Dem Boyz," the first single off the album.
"I like 'We Dem Boyz' as the first single because of the energy," he says. "It reaches so many audiences other than just a rap audience. It's kind of like how 'Black and Yellow' was – a big sports song to get everybody riled. It's more of anthem."
"Blacc Hollywood" features appearances by Adele and Miley Cyrus. Wiz shared that the collaboration with Miley Cyrus is "completely left" of what listeners might expect from the two. But what he says about their typical hangout session isn't going to surprise anyone: "We ride Can Ams through Hollywood and we just chill. I can say we smoke a ton of pot and we just kick it."
