2 Chainz Pays Homage to Cash Money in 'Used 2' Video
On Oct. 13, 2 Chainz unleashed the music video for “Used 2,” the second official single off of “B.O.A.T.S. II #METIME.” With the song featuring production by former Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh and Chainz borrowing Juvenile’s flow from his classic “Back That Azz Up,” the Atlanta rapper took to the streets of New Orleans in late September to shoot its visuals.
The final product is a nostalgic ode to Cash Money’s first heyday in the late '90s and early 2000s. On top of employing a stretch Hummer limousine, lots of twerking ladies and gold teeth galore, the video reunites Lil Wayne, Juvenile and Turk of the Hot Boys mostly in their classic tall white t-shirts and camouflage bandanas. The only group member missing is B.G., who is serving a 14-year sentence for weapons possession, though his presence is felt through countless “Free B.G.” shirts.
“Used 2” follows the Pharrell-assisted “Feds Watching” which peaked at No. 6 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart on Sept. 21. This week, “Used 2” narrowly misses the chart with a 154% rise in plays at the format, according to Nielsen BDS. The cut is expected to debut on the chart next week, and with the video amassing over 240,000 views on YouTube as of press time, it could very well enter Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs on Wednesday.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, “B.O.A.T.S. II” has sold 126,000 copies since its Sept. 10 release.
