TLC Releases Ne-Yo Penned Song, 'Meant To Be': Listen
After teasing fans, TLC releasesa new song, "Meant to Be," off their upcoming album, "20."
"Meant to Be," co-penned by Ne-Yo, is reminiscent of the group's earlier work, such as "FanMail" and "3D." The mid-tempo cut features T-Boz and Chilli singing of love-filled flashbacks.
"Cause we knew, said we always knew/ That no matter what would occur that we were/ Meant to be/ And it ain't going to be easy/ But no matter what, baby we're meant to be," they sing on the hook.
"Meant to Be" is one of two new songs that are set in stone to appear on TLC's album which celebrates the group's 20 year career anniversary. "Posh Life," the second song, is written by Lady Gaga and longtime TLC collaborator Dallas Austin. TLC told Billboard that there is a high possibility that "20" will feature guest appearances. "We might as well spice it up, have fun," T-Boz said on the red carpet at the 2013 MTV VMAs.
"20," due Oct. 15, features the group's top hits like "Waterfalls," "No Scrubs," "Unpretty," and more.
While promoting the album and their upcoming VH1 biopic, "CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story," T-Boz and Chilli are also recording for a full-length of all new material due 2014.
