Earlier this year pro-skateboarder-turned-rapper, Black Dave, dropped "Muthafuck My Enemies," a menacing track that included bragged raps to angry lines about crooked cops and George Zimmerman.
Now, the self-proclaimed "Black Bart" returns with the video for "Take It Back," the Shy Beats-produced first single off his forthcoming mixtape, "Black Bart" (Sept. 17). Similar to the video for "Muthafuck My Enemies," "Take It Back" maintains the ferocity and frustration of its predecessor, with the video's day-in-the-life narrative ending with Dave getting arrested. Check out the video premiered exclusively on The Juice:
The video pays homage to the 1995 movie "Kids," and even features Leo Fitzpatrick and Pete Bici, both of whom played Telly and one of the movie's other skater kids, respectively. Instead of reprising their roles as rebellious adolescents they portray law enforcers, passing the torch to a new generation of New York skaters.
"With this video, I just wanted to share the day in the life of myself, and New York City skateboarding. Bringing the viewer into my world, but making sure to pay homage to the New York City skateboard culture. Teaming up with director Jason Ano, and having Peter Bici and Leo Fitzpatrick who were actors in the original film KIDS that had a profound effect on my life and many other kids, and I just wanted to recapture that story and share it," he tells The Juice.
If the name Jason Ano sounds familiar that's because he also directed A$AP Rocky's breakthrough music video for "Purple Swag."
