Marcus Canty is destined for success. In less than a year, the 21 yr. old went from reality TV, "X-Factor," to realizing his dream. In January, Canty inked a deal with his mentor L.A. Reid at Epic Records.
"The key to my label [deal] is I that I feel comfortable enough that I actually have people behind me that believe in my talent," Canty told The Juice. "And we're all on the same page. When I met with LA and my Epic team, they brought me in like family. So it was just so easy for me to adjust."
Signed for only four months, Canty is already hard at work. His debut single, "Won't Make A Fool Out Of You," continues to climb the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart after hitting the airwaves on March 12. Last week, the song moved up from No. 85 to No. 79 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The R&B ballad, featured in the 'Think Like A Man' soundtrack, showcases the soulful voice that mesmerized audiences on "X Factor."
Fans can look forward to more of Canty's signature sound on his debut album, which is still in the works. The singer said he's collaborating with music heavy-hitters like producer Tricky Stewart and singer-songwriter Claude Kelly, who worked as a vocal coach on "X-Factor." "I'm building this brand because I want people to know that I'm serious about my art," Marcus revealed. "I've been in with Tricky Stewart and he's getting me all these great writers and producers so we can get this thing moving."
While Canty hopes to make "feel good music" that everybody can enjoy, the newcomer certainly has his eyes on the ladies. "At the end of the day, you have to make a woman feel special. So my music is geared towards the ladies obviously," Canty said. Take note, ladies.
