On his way to NYC for a press run, R. Kelly fell ill and had to be hurried back to Chicago for medical care. According to a statement his publicity team released, it looks as if Kellz is "suffering from complications" from the throat surgery he under went last summer.
"Initial indications are that he is suffering from complications from surgery he had last year to treat an abscess on his vocal cords," the statement reads, according to Rolling Stone. "It is unclear how long Kelly may be sidelined."
R. Kelly cancelled a TV appearances -- "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and the "Today" show -- and his book launch party and signing. R. Kelly's memoir, "Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me," is out today (June 28); two days after the release of his 11th studio album, "Write Me Back" (June 26).
This week, R. Kelly's latest from "Write Me Back," "Feelin' Single," peaks at No. 38 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs char. In early May, Kellz earned his sixth No. 1 on the Adult R&B chart when the album's first single, "Share My Love," climbed to the top.
