John Legend is saving room in his schedule for his new album.
The singer has pushed back his fall tour dates to 2013 to spend more time wrapping up "Love in the Future," he announced in a note on his website.
"We announced the dates before we'd finished the album because we were sure we'd finish the album in time," he wrote. "But, unfortunately, while the creative process has been exciting and I'm pretty certain we're going to deliver the best album of my career so far, the timing hasn't adhered to the schedule I originally envisioned. In other words, we're not done with the album."
He apologized to fans who have spent their "hard-earned money," adding that he's rarely missed a performance over the years.
An Oct. 27 performance at the Borgata Spa and Resort Event Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, will continue as planned.
Legend's "Love in the Future" will be his first solo set since 2008's "Evolver." He's been working with frequent collaborator Kanye West, who has served as a producer on each of Legend's albums.
