Lauryn Hill releases a new song, "Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)," in connection with her newly signed deal with Sony.
"Here is a link to a piece that I was 'required' to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline." Hill wrote on her Tumblr. "I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music... but the message is still there."
Ms. Hill recently inked a deal with Sony Music to launch her new label, Observe Creation Music, and release new music.
The singer continues to say that the death of Kris Kross' Chris Kelly intensifies the song's message of society's toxicity: "In light of Wednesday’s tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today’s unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked!"
The four-minute song has been available on iTunes as of May 3.
