J. Cole Releases Free EP, 'Truly Yours'
J. Cole plans to release first 'Born Sinner' single this week.
While J. Cole continues to work on his sophomore album, "Born Sinner," he releases new EP, "Truly Yours," online as a free download.
The five-track EP features cuts that didn't fit onto "Born Sinner," according to a letter the rapper posted on his official site, Dreamvillain. He notes that he's recorded at least four albums worth of songs in the sessions for "Born Sinner," and we can expect the album's first single this week.
In the candid message, Cole also thank his fans for giving him the time to "grow, experiment, and find the direction" for his upcoming album, which is currently without a release date. He also notes that he's recorded at least four albums worth of songs in the sessions for his new.
Check out the Roc Nation signee's letter below:
I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album.. And I have.
Along the way I’ve recorded at least 4 albums worth of material, lots of it being unfinished demo versions waiting to be polished up, some of them are great songs and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit Sonically, don’t fit Theme, or there’s just not enough space) .
Tonight, I want to give you a few of these songs because you deserve them. It’s hard as fuck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul..
The wait is over.
PS- 1st single coming this week. The album is hands down my best work yet. Can’t wait to share."
"Born Sinner" -- which J. Cole calls his "best work yet" -- comes close to two years after the debut of his Billboard 200 No. 1 album, "Cole World: The Sideline Story," (Sep. 27, 2011).
