Santigold has been quiet on the music front since releasing her “Master of My Make Believe” in 2012. But soon new material will be available from the downtown Dance and R&B hybrid singer—though it will come in the form of clothing.
She has paired with premium sock brand Stance for her first collection launching this spring, with additional styles to come. The Santigold Collection opens with three styles, named Brooklyn Go Hard, Gold Links and Kilimanjaro.
The Brooklyn Go Hard sock features exclusive sketches by artist Thom Lessner and is influenced by her ubiquitous collab with Jay Z, “Brooklyn Go Hard.”
“Santi has an amazing sense of personal style and unparalleled commitment to her art,” said Candy Harris, Vice President of Women’s Strategy at Stance in a press release. “She is not afraid to mix colors and patterns and her hands on approach made sure that each design tells a unique story that truly encapsulates what motivates her as an individual and style influencer.”
“I was excited to collaborate with Stance, and to make socks a new canvas for some of my creative ideas,” said Santi.
20% of the sales proceeds from the Kilimanjaro pair (inspired by her climb up the mountain) will be donated to charity: water, a non-profit providing clean water to developing nations.
The collection will debut February 19 on Stance's site as well as Nordstrom, Opening Ceremony and others.
