10 Best Beats From New York Fashion Week: AlunaGeorge, Barbra Streisand, and More

Alunageorge performs at Rebecca Minkoff's New York Fashion Week show

Models have strutted out of town, fall 2014 fashions are packed away, and the tents are being deconstructed at Lincoln Center. Yes, New York Fashion Week has come to a close. But no need to frown, we rounded up our picks for the best beats from last week. From Lil Kim playing (and sitting front row) at The Blonds show, to Pharoahe Monch blaring at Alexander Wang, check out our 10 favorite songs from NYFW.

Marc Jacobs: Jessica Lange, “The Spoken Word”

Natural faced models in blunt-cut wigs strutted down the catwalk as the Depression-era track “Happy Days are Here Again,” was given an eerie narration by Jessica Lange. Before Jacobs resurrected the '30s song, it was famously brought back to life in the '60s by Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland.

Richard Chai, Bangles “Hazy Shades Of Winter”

The Bangles “Hazy Shades Of Winter” perfectly called attention to Chai’s effortless, fuzzy and heavily textured fall threads.

Rebecca Minkoff: AlunaGeorge, “Attracting Flies”

British electronic duo AlunaGeorge provided the sexy soundtrack while the models walked the runway in pastel-colored menswear inspired numbers at the Rebecca Minkoff show.

DEGEN: Ary Warnaar of Anamanaguchi, Custom Track

From crafting the knits for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to creating a collection beckoning Miley Cyrus, Brooklyn-based knitwear designer Lindsay Degen knows how to make knits sexy. Degen’s presentation was a kind of trippy rave experience with glow in the dark neon green knits glowing under florescent lights as swooshy beats by Ary Warnaar of Anamanaguchi played.

The Blonds: Lil Kim, “Kitty Box”

Lil Kim’s “Kitty Box” was the perfect backdrop to The Blond’s kitty-themed fall collection filled with blinged-out bustiers, mirrored cat accessories and sharp feline nails.

Duckie Brown: Vivaldi Mix

Duckie Brown’s blunt, yet elegant fall collection of silk sewn tracksuits and fuchsia blouses were perfectly accentuated by the Vivaldi track mixed with hardcore electronics.

Diane Von Furstenberg: St. Vincent, “Digital Witness”

St. Vincent stole the show as she performed three new songs live for the first time at DVF’s American Express’ Unstaged Fashion show – “Every Tear Disappears,” “Prince Johnny” and “Digital Witness.”

Alexander Wang: Pharoahe Monch, "Simon Says"

Wang supplied yet another head bobbing soundtrack for his fall lineup with the help of a mashup of Mr. Monch.

Custo Barcelona:  Spirit Catcher, “No Way Out”

Neon pink, metallic prints, and shiny faux fur hit the runway at the Custo Barcelona show as Spirit Catcher’s sweetly textured beats echoed the collections multi-surfaced and layered look.

Desigual: Glass Candy, “Warm In The Winter”

Desigual’s fall collection was all about love, happiness, polka-dots and floral motifs. What better way to reflect this flirty, tongue-in-cheek lineup than with electronic duo Glass Candy?
