Siva Kaneswaran Fashion Week Diary

Siva Kaneswaran is the natty band mate in handsome collective The Wanted. Hook editor Gregory DelliCarpini Jr. was lucky enough to spend some time with him during New York Fashion Week. He's 'got a genuine appreciation for fashion. “Me and my twin brother would model together when I was young,” Siva mentioned. “We had so much fun and I immediately developed a love for fashion.”

With the band about to part ways, many are predicting he’ll be the breakout star. He wrote most of the band’s latest album, “Word of Mouth.” “I love writing music and can’t wait to do it as a solo artist,” he said. This guy’s certainly one to watch. In the meantime, check out his fashion week diary below. He hit some shows and the studio as well.

DAY 1

Hello NYC!

“After I touched down in NYC (it’s way colder here than in London), I checked into the Sanctuary Hotel, gave myself a quick shave (in the dark) and ran to my first show. I totally missed some spots. Shhh, don’t tell anyone.”

Front Row at Duckie Brown

“I made it (barely) to my first fashion show at New York Fashion Week, and met up with Billboard’s fashion guy Gregory DelliCarpini Jr. for the first time and caught up about fashion week fun.”

Uptown Bound

"Off to the next show."

Backstage at Desigual show

“Gregory and I hustled from downtown to uptown and here we are backstage. The energy backstage is awesome, and all the hype brings me back to my modeling days.”

Front Row at Desigual

“From backstage to front row. The Desigual show was all about the love. It was really cool how much fun the models had while walking down the runway. They danced down the runway, high fived, and blew kisses to everyone. How cool is that?”

Lunch in Soho

“Fashion week can really work up an appetite.  I headed to lunch at Cafeteria with Gregory and my publicist Dana Supnick. Nothing like some pizza, fries and good laughs before a fitting!”

G-Star Fitting

“Hit up the G-Star shop (literally across the street) to get fitted for G-Star’s event on Saturday night to announce their new partnership with Pharrell and Bionic Yarn.”

DAY 2

E! News

“I shot with the beautiful Alicia Quarles this morning for E! News. She is such a darlin.’ We talked Fashion Week and what’s next… :)”

Nautica Show

“The Black Sail by Nautica show was really strong. I was so impressed. The jackets and sweaters were awesome, but there was a pair of cashmere shorts that I must have! I would definitely wear a bunch of looks from the show.”

Front Row at Nautica

“I got to catch up with a new friend Kellan Lutz at the show, and the NFL’s Brad Smith."

Lunch

“Channeling my inner tourist today, and hit up Bubba Gump. It was so good. #WhenInNYC”

Charlotte Ronson After Party

“How lucky am I that I get to party at my hotel? I stopped by Charlotte Ronson’s after party at Tender in the Sanctuary Hotel.”

DAY 3

Lunch with Rushka

“We met up with the iconic Rushka Bergman she’s the fashion editor for L'Uomo Vogue and Vogue Italia, and was the stylist for Michael Jackson. She was great fun and I’m really looking forward to working with her.”

RAW for the Oceans event

“I swam with sharks while in Australia years ago and feel so lucky to have been able to attend the RAW for the Oceans event. It is so important to save our oceans. And Pharrell is such a cool guy. This is an amazing and creative way to save our oceans. I would rock these jeans. Hey, I got to see that hat in person! I have to get myself one of those.”

Museum Fun

“After the event I got to have a fun night in the museum and took some picture with Teddy, Dana and Gregory. There was a little boy yelling at this statue to stand up. Teddy wasn’t listening. I will definitely be hitting this museum up again.”

Dinner at Antica Pesa

“We all had dinner at Antica Pesa in Williamsburg. They had a live jazz band, and the vibe was cool. We had a great time.”

DAY 4

Public School Show

“I dug the edgy and rebellious vibe of this collection. Definitely a downtown look. I need a few of those jackets!”

Met up with RedOne

“I ended my time at fashion week in the studio with producer RedOne. While I look forward to the last leg of the tour with the band, I am so excited to embark on the next phase of my career, and plan to write and record my own music like crazy. I look forward to my career as a solo artist, working on my own music and getting involved in fashion again. I just feel like it’s the right time. It’s going to be huge. Stay tuned.”
