Trumpeting the start of New York Fashion Week today (Feb. 6), we decided to check in with musicians who have given the fashion industry a go. From Madonna’s Material Girl collection, to Kanye West’s DW runway line, see where these lines are now and get our vote on whether these labels are still sizzling hot or dead cold.

Victoria Beckham by Victoria Beckham: HOT

Elegant and simple, this former Spice Girl may have the hottest fashion line in the biz. Victoria Beckham by Victoria Beckham launched in 2008 and since has gone on to win the Designer of the Year Award at the annual British Fashion Awards in 2011.

Gwen Stefani, L.A.M.B.: COLD

Blending the beat of Guatemalan, Japanese and Jamaican styles, L.A.M.B is a brand that packs powerful personality. But with Gwen persuing other creative paths, she’s been absent from her shows and presentations.

Adam Levine, Adam Levine for Kmart: HOT

Adam Levine brought sexy to Kmart. People’s sexiest man of the year has been called the Calvin Klein of Kmart. The singer debuted his apparel and accessories collection for Kmart back in October. With items having practically flown off selves, Adam was credited with bringing in an entirely new customer to Kmart.

Kanye West, DW: COLD

Kanye West gave the fashion designer gig a go when he presented his DW Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter 2012 show in Paris, France. Although the show received poor reviews, West did not stop there. He went on to collaborate with French brand A.P.C. on a small summer capsule collection which immediately sold out and is rumored to be giving the catwalk another go in the near future. He also has a line with Adidas coming out this fall.

Jessica Simpson, The Jessica Simpson Label: HOT

While her clothes may not be the most stylish numbers, Jessica Simpson’s line has been raking in the cash since its 2006 launch. And for that reason, this “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer’s line is on fire.

Pharrell Williams, Billionaire Boys Club: HOT

Pharrell’s Billionaire Boys Club is one hot men’s streetwear brand. BBC and its infamous astronaut logo launched in 2005. Since then, its grungy and futuristic designs have been worn by the likes of Kanye West and Jay Z. Pharrell’s musical genius seamlessly translates to fashion.

Avril Lavigne, Abbey Dawn label: COLD

What’s going on with Avril Lavigne’s Abbey Dawn label? The label launched in 2008 and the last we saw from the punky plaid, leather and chain filled line was back at their spring 2013 show when Kylie Jenner walked. We guess not everything the Kardashian’s touch turns to gold.

Rihanna, River Island: HOT

Rihanna managed to capture her eccentric tomboyish look with fashion line. Equal parts glamour and sexy, the line co-created with Adam Selman in 2013, includes casual pieces like tank tops, jumpsuits and fur-trimmed puffer jackets. So for all the pop star hopefuls who lust after Rih’s style: this is for you.

Madonna, Material Girl: HOT

Although this line is geared toward teens, Madonna and Lourdes’ Material Girl line, launched in 2010, is a huge contender at Macys with ladies like Kelly Osbourne, Taylor Momsen and Rita Ora fronting the ‘80s themed ads.

Beyonce, House of Deréon: Cold

Introduced in 2006 by Beyonce and her mother Tina Knowles, The House of Deréon seeks to connect the “sidewalk and catwalk."  Although the line has been in the shade for a bit (we haven’t seen Bey with the line since the Dereon Spring/Summer 2012), we still think anything Bey does its hot. We want to see more from this label.
