Miley Cyrus proved on her first MTV "Unplugged" special last night that she is a country girl at heart.
"I tried to bring Nashville here for the night," Cyrus told the audience. We wouldn’t quite say she brought Nashville to the L.A. venue exactly, more like a wonderful Dollywood and Liberace Museum blend.
Miley first hit the country stage in a red check Western-inspired catsuit, complete with a crystal encrusted belt, white cowgirl boots and a blonde wig. In this southern look she performed renditions of “Jolene” and “Lilac Wine,” also twerking on a dancing horse for “#GetItRight.”
Next up was our personal favorite number of the evening, a Swarovski crystal drenched denim ensemble. At first glance you would think this was a custom costume created for the singer. However the look is actually hot off the runway from British designer Ashish’s Spring 2014 show.
"Miley looked amazing at the MTV Unplugged performance,” designer Ashish Gupta told us. “She's always so effortless but also completely fearless with her looks. She took a head-to-toe sequin runway look and completely owned it! I love her because she brings the fun back to fashion."
The oversized deconstructed jacket and blue-to-gold gradient-sequined pants were originally paired with a glittering plaid shirt on the British designer's SS14 Runway. Since the original look was a bit too covered up for Miley, she styled it with a custom-made triangle bikini top in the same shimmering denim blue. She completed the Western look with cowgirl boots and gold earpieces adorned with teeny tiny cannabis leaves. Yee-haw!
