During a recent radio interviews, Kanye West’s been campaigning for platforms to get his ideas out particularly in the realm of clothing and fashion, but in the most politically incorrect way—by blasting elite couture houses like Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent and sportswear titan Nike, who was giving him the runaround in regards to when they’ll release the West-designed Yeezy 2 sneakers. Well, it seems Kanye has finally gotten his wish to have a full line with a major brand and back-end royalties, though it’s not Nike. Adidas has stepped up to the plate.
Today (Dec. 3) the brand recognized for their three stripes logo confirmed the pairing via press release.
“For 2014,” starts the message, “we welcome to the Adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”
Last week Kanye let the cat out of the bag during an interview with Hot 97 afternoon radio star host Angie Martinez and since then has said that he hopes to have Adidas products out by Fall 2014. "I'm going to be the 2Pac of product," he said, referencing icon California rhymer Tupac Shakur. Time will tell.
