Fashion Week: Avril Lavigne and (Underage) Kardashian Sister Take to the Runway
We have officially reached the halfway point of fashion week and the style choices, music and celebrities only get grander as the festivities go on. Yesterday, new contrasting trends of purity and sex appeal emerged on the runway. From Betsey Johnson's "T&A"-inspired line to the elegance and grace of Kate Middleton designer Jenny Packam, the runway became a whirlwind of both vulgar sexuality and high tea designs.
Avril Lavigne's Abbey Dawn Spring 2012
VIBE: Drenched in punkish bold color, Avril Lavigne's Abbey Dawn line strutted down the catwalk yesterday. The line featured punk inspired gear ranging from shredded denim to a red checked miniskirt to a "Punk You Very Much" dress. Despite tiptoeing past the CFDA's rules that no model under 16 walk in shows, 14-year-old Kardashian sister Kylie Jenner took to the runway with sisters Kourtney and Kim (plus her new husband, Kris Humphries) beaming with pride in the front row. Not the hottest runway show of the season, but Avril's fans that admire her style and grunge will fawn over the line.

Callula Lillibelle Spring 2012
VIBE: A fizzy martini of flirty polka dots, animal prints, and lace created a look fit for a 1950s housewife who fantasizes about wild evenings on the town. The delicious candy colored collection left many salivating over their effervescent hues. Designer William Calvert sought to create a modern-day Sophia Loren look with this retro spring line.

Jenny Packam Spring 2012
VIBE: Designer to Kate Middleton, Selena Gomez and many other starlets who grace the corridors of castles and red carpets, creates an ethereal yet regal look for spring. Building up lingerie-like layers with detailed beading, as a blend of rainbow of colors, the collection created the ultimate in summer glamour. Mandy Moore, and actress Shantal VanSanten added a dusting of celebrity sparkle to the front row.

Marc By Marc Jacobs Spring 2012
VIBE: Bold, minimal, and dripping with a modern utilitarian coolness, Jacobs Marc by Marc Jacobs hit the runway with the same aggressive chicness as Kanye strutting on the stage. With rumors a-buzz about his possible take over at Dior, Marc's shows are the hottest ticket in town. The sister line of his signature label, this collection always manages to whet our appetites and hint at what's to come at the MJ show later in the week. The wearable collection consisted of fire-engine red colored dresses and tops, high-waisted pants and dark box cut jackets. Elle Fanning seemed to have received the memo arriving in a bright red shirt and shorts.
HOT ITEM: A charming 1940s-style swimsuit injected with a modern edge.
DESINGER SOUND: Beastie Boys, "Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win"; Santigold, Britney Spears
Carolina Herrera Spring 2012
VIBE: The Carolina Herrera spring 2012 shoe exhibited a series of dazzling contrasts. Delicate and sweet yellows and greens blossomed on the runway creating an organic natural look for spring. However, the flowery looks hardened as the show went on, as a chilling breeze of black and white Art Deco inspired looks blew into the studio. Perhaps the greatest contrast happened slightly to the left of the runway where Nicki Minaj sat next to the empress of fashion Ms. Anna Wintor. The toast of fashion week and queen rapist showed up in bubbling multi-colored pompom top, matching neon pleated skirt and green-and-pink leggings. Perhaps a Vogue cover in the Rapper's future?
HOT ITEM: A gorgeous flowing pale green chiffon dress with black leather belted detailing stile the show with its ethereal charm.
