Mayer Hawthorne's Style Council
By Rachel Been

Mayer Hawthorne's combination of classy blazers with flashy dunks upholds his style standard - flashy but classy. Taking cues from swagger greats such as Frank Sinatra, Hawthorne pays homage both musically and aesthetically to the past. "Frank was a G, man. His fedora game was amazing. His pocket square game was amazing. He always looked sharp - even when he was wasted at 2 A.M."
Yet Hawthorne is quick to point out the accoutrements that would have befuddled the refined retro crooners - a turntable watch? DJ AM Dunks? A rolled up blazer?
"I've been rocking a lot of blazers with the sleeves rolled up, something about that is really comfortable to me. There's something fly about rolling up the sleeves on a blazer. A blazer is seen as upscale; it's got to be perfect. I'm all about wearing things in different ways."
