It has been nothing short of an overwhelming year for Brett Eldredge. Last week, it was announced that his single "Beat of the Music" was the No. 1 single of 2014 on the Country Airplay Songs chart. Along with his latest single, "Mean to Me," Eldredge was the only artist to have two singles in our list of the year's best singles. He took home the CMA Award for New Artist of the Year last month, and on Monday night (Dec. 15), he has a chance to walk away with Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the inaugural American Country Countdown Awards.

"It's been an amazing year," he told reporters during a conference call over the weekend. "2013 kicked things off when I finally got my first big hit ('Don't Ya'), which gave me the opportunity to really kick things into gear this year. Now, having 'Beat of the Music' being a big hit, and 'Mean to Me' is climbing quicker than any of my songs thus far. It's really cool to have your first hit and people have heard your voice, and then the second time people hear 'Beat of the Music' and they're like, 'Oh, I know that guy now.' Now I've got fans, I've got people that know me now, and when they hear my voice, they say, 'Oh, that's Brett Eldredge,' and that's a cool feeling."

How is the singer -- who went skydiving and scuba diving to celebrate his two previous trips to the top -- going to celebrate his year-end honor? "Oh, man. You know, I've already been shark diving to celebrate it being a No. 1 song; now it's the most-played song. I don't know how I'm going to celebrate it. I'm trying to figure that out right now. I know I am going to celebrate. In a lot of ways I've already celebrated it two times, but that's still up in the air. I will try to do my best to celebrate over the holidays and over the new year. I think I'm going to go maybe take a trip to a beach somewhere and see if I can go on some kind of fishing adventure and get lost for a while and soak it all in."

Eldredge says he is excited to be among the nominees at the ACCAs. "Especially with this being the first year of this show, being in that category the very first year is something very special. I'm sure glad to be in the mix, for sure, and I'm glad to be up there with a lot of my buddies that are in the group as well."

Being a performer on the first ACC Awards is a rewarding feeling. "Well, you can only have one first time, you know? This is the first year, so it's very exciting when something comes along like this. It's a different concept and a whole different awards show. The wonder is there -- how's it all going to be and what it's going to be like. It's like a whole new toy that you get to be a part of, the launch of it. I'm glad to be one of those toys and one of those guys that gets to go up on that stage and sing my song, and to get to perform my whole song in front of millions of people watching."

Eldredge says he wants to soak up every moment tonight because it wasn't too long ago he was at home during the awards telecasts. "I remember sitting on my couch a few years ago watching awards shows because I couldn't even get in to the show. I was just dreaming of being on that television or on that big stage singing my songs. That was just a dream, and now I'm living out that dream somehow. I'm just pumped that this is the first year for it and I get to be a big part of it. So it's going to be a special night."

The ACCAs air live Monday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
