J osh Turner fans will want to be sure that they tune into HSN on Friday, May 25. The MCA Nashville recording artist will be making an appearance on the channel that night to promote his fifth studio album, "Punching Bag."
Though the disc will not be released until June 12, fans can pre-order the disc during the South Carolina native's appearance as part of the HSN LIVE concert series that evening at 9 p.m. (EST) on HSN, HSN.com, as well as via HSN Mobile.
The appearance, sponsored by Cricket, will include Turner performing several tracks from the new album, as well as past radio hits such as "Your Man" and "Why Don't We Just Dance."
Andy Sheldon, EVP of Television, Live Events and Creative for HSN, is excited about the chance to be a part of the promotional launch of Turner's new album.
"HSN has become one of the hottest platforms for today's music artists to launch their new releases and after listening to Josh Turner's new CD Punching Bag, I am confident that his debut will be a fantastic multi-platform event," said Sheldon. "The recent HSN LIVE debut of Lionel Richie's Tuskegee was a brilliant success and we are excited to once again partner with the talented team at Universal Music Nashville to welcome Josh to the HSN LIVE roster as part of our Americana event on May 25th."
Turner is eagerly anticipating the event, as well. "It will be my first time doing this for me and my band,"the Grand Ole Opry member told Billboard. "Everything I have heard about it sounds like it will be a great way to kick off the record."
Of course, he's also excited for people to hear the new music. "I've been working on this record for about the past fifteen or sixteen months," he said. "I've been doing a lot of writing and listening for it, and I've really enjoyed the whole creative process. I'm glad to have it finished and looking forward to getting it in the hands of the fans."
Fans will have the chance to pre-order "Punching Bag" as part of a bundle that also includes the compilation CD Icon: The Best Of Josh Turner. He feels the disc is a great way to introduce his music to people that might not be familiar with him. "A lot of people call it a 'Greatest Hits' record, but it's something the label did for the more established artists on the roster," he says. 'It showcases the selection of songs that tells who the artist it. There's a lot of album cuts on there. It's good for people who really don't know my music. It's kind of a summation of what I have done in my career."
