CMAs Preview & Predictions: Male Vocalist
CMAs Preview & Predictions: Male Vocalist

The male vocalist category at the 45th Annual Country Music Association Awards is stacked with titans of (the music) industry, but only one guy can win it. To get you ready for the big show (Wednesday night at 8/7c) The 615 is offering our pick, and it probably won't come as a surprise.

Male Vocalist of the Year
Jason Aldean
Kenny Chesney
Brad Paisley
Blake Shelton
Keith Urban

Analysis: While I think that Jason Aldean made a huge breakthrough with five nominations on an independent label, Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley released some of their most compelling music yet, and Urban continued to deliver aces at Country Radio, how can you go against Shelton? It's simply his year.

Who Will Win: Blake Shelton. Everything he touches seems to turn to Gold, and while 2010's win was a surprise, 2011 won't be.

CMA Fun Fact: When it comes to this category, it's all in the streak. Since 1991, this category has failed to post a repeat winner once time, in 2001 when Toby Keith ended a two-year run by Tim McGraw. That span includes five wins from Vince Gill (1991-95), three from George Strait (1996-1998), two from McGraw (1999-2000), Keith (2001), Alan Jackson (2002-2003), Keith Urban (2004-2006), Brad Paisley (2007-2009), and Shelton last year. If history repeats itself, Shelton needs to have an acceptance speech ready.
