Watch the singer and Disney Channel star perform two songs and talk music & style.
"I felt I had a lot to get out of my system," Bridgit Mendler said of creating her first album "Hello My Name Is…" as she sat down in front of Billboard's New York studio recently to perform her two hot singles "Hurricane" and "Ready Or Not" for our Tastemakers video series and to share her thoughts on her music, her style and her future. "I'd really been able to express myself musically," she says. "There was a lot of energy and character and creativity that I wanted to pull together, so from that I feel like we got a lot of energetic songs."

Energy, certainly, but the singer/actress -- star of the Disney Channel's "Good Luck Charlie" -- couldn't have seen her 2012 debut "Hello…" hit the top 30 of the Billboard 200 or her single "Ready Or Not" climb well into the Hot 100 without another key attribute: a sweet, tuneful voice.
In the year since "Hello," Mendler has taken that voice on tour, bringing her music directly to her ever-growing audience (she's already topped 3 million Twitter followers and nearly as many Facebook likes). And being on the road has also meant bringing her "laid-back and flexible" fashion sense along with her. "I like things that are on the simpler side… Especially when performing, you want stuff that breathes and that moves easily." says Mendler, who counts Gwen Stefani as one of the women whose style has inspired her.
And while Bridgit remains on tour through most of September, she's also got big plans this season. "I plan on working on a new album this fall," she smiles.
