The members of No Doubt who are not named Gwen Stefani have started a new band. This was all news to Stefani herself, but she doesn’t seem to think it’s a very big deal.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (Feb. 16), the host asked Gwen Stefani if she had heard No Doubt had “taken on a new lead singer.”

Only he didn’t have his facts quite straight. “They’re doing a side project,” Stefani corrected. “They wanna be in a punk band. It’s not No Doubt. All the guys from No Doubt are doing a new band.”

Indeed, Stefani has not been replaced as No Doubt’s singer. The band’s Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young recently partnered up with AFI frontman Davey Havok to form an entirely new, so-far-unnamed project.

“I actually first heard about it on the Internet,” Stefani said.

Well, Billboard broke the story, so we’d like to extend a thank you for the indirect shout out.

The new quartet is managed by Pat Magnarella (Green Day) and is currently seeking a label to release an already-completed album.

No Doubt’s last album was 2012’s Push and Shove. Stefani plans to release a solo album called This Is What the Truth Feels Like on March 18.

Gwen Stefani Unveils Live 'Make Me Like You' Music Video During 2016 Grammys

During the Feb. 15 Grammys telecast, Stefani partnered with Target to premiere a live music video for “Make Me Like You," a song she told Kimmel was, in fact, about her boyfriend and fellow Voice coach Blake Shelton.

So while No Doubt remains an active project, it appears its members will be devoting their creative time and energy to other outlets for the near future.
