“Buy now while stocks last,” leader John Lydon warns.

What does the world need now? According to John Lydon, a new Public Image Ltd. album and tour, that's what.

Today (May 18), Lydon announced the arrival of What the World Needs Now…, PiL's 10th studio album. The record is due Sept. 4 and was completely self-funded by the post-punk band.

What the World Needs Now… follows 2012's This Is PiL, which was the band's first new record in 17 years. The new album was recorded at Steve Winwood's Wincraft studio in 2014.
