Adele’s “Hello” might break U.S. digital sales records in its first week of release and has even inspired Lionel Richie to create a meme, both of which are pretty good reasons to want to attach your name to the song.

Billy Eichner, comedian and star of Funny or Die’s Billy on the Street, took to Twitter to attempt to take some credit for the singer’s powerful comeback hit.

“Very proud to say I wrote that Adele song. I picked up the phone one day and I was, like, 'Hello?' and I thought ‘that's a song,’” he joked.

No word on whether Adele will one day be invited to take part in one of his pop culture quiz games -- but her new album, 25, will be available on Nov. 20.
