Zendaya Slams French Mag for Photoshopping Her
Zendaya, along with being a musician and actress, happens to be a stunningly beautiful teenager. That's why it makes sense the 19-year-old would be surprised by any dramatic retouching of her image -- like the editing of a recent cover shoot for French magazine Modeliste, who she called out on Instagram yesterday (Oct. 20) after seeing how blatantly they had manipulated photos from her cover shoot.
"These are the things that make women self-conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have," she wrote on Instagram, where she posted the un-retouched original alongside the final published image.
For someone who hasn't even hit her twenties, Zendaya has proven herself to be an outspoken advocate of beauty diversification and a harsh critic of harmful beauty standards promoted by the media and the fashion industry. Recently, she inspired Mattel to create a Barbie in her image.
See the before-and-after below, and head to Modeliste to see the star's cover.
Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated. These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue.
