One Direction Celebrates Five Years as a Band
Happy fifth anniversary, One Direction!
It's been an eventful year for the now-foursome, who are currently working on their fifth album and have embarked on their fourth North American tour.
Despite making headlines after band member Zayn Malik left the group to spend more time with his family and friends and news breaking that Louis Tomlinson will soon be a father, One Direction is still going strong -- no matter what Simon Cowell says.
Harry Styles took to Twitter to write a short note to his thousands of fans and to the band's crew, thanking them for their support for the past five years.
One Direction first came together five years ago on the U.K. reality TV show The X Factor. Each young boy auditioned for the show individually, but Cowell combined the talents of Malik, Styles, Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan to create one boy band.
One Direction did not win their season of The X Factor but were signed to Syco Records after coming in third place.
