Exclusive: Listen to Singer-Songwriter Odessa's Dreamy Self-Titled Debut
Odessa's solo career has been a long time coming. A SoCal native who's spent much of her career in Nashville, she's played with everyone from Alaskan folk bands to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros on the road to this release, her self-titled debut full-length.
"The making of this album has been a long journey," Odessa tells Billboard. The results, though, already seem to be making an impact. Her first single, "I Will Be There," has been featured on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, and her 2014 EP was one of Paste Magazine's best of the year.
"I'm thankful to the people who have helped me along the way," says the singer of her new album. Produced by Jacquire King (Norah Jones, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse), it's a blend of her numerous influences -- California folk with a Nashville twang, but still poppy enough to appeal to a wide audience. "I've learned that creation is the sweetest expression of love," Odessa says, "and that the only thing that matters is to love and be loved in return.”
