Fans of One Direction’s life-affirming folk-pop side will surely lap up “Ready To Run,” the second release from the boy band’s forthcoming Four album and a song that recalls one of their biggest hits to date, “Story of my Life.”

From the finger-picking opening to lines like “There’s a devil in your smile that chasing me/And every time I turn around, it’s only gaining speed,” “Ready To Run” moves swiftly away from the hair-metal-lite vibe of lead single “Steal My Girl” and comfortably settles back into Mumford territory. With a sun-streaked chorus that finds One Direction grasping for more than the status quo and punctuating the title phrase with an epic “Whoa-oh!”, “Ready To Run” aims to be included with 1D’s most universal sing-alongs.

“Ready To Run” follows “Steal My Girl” as a preview of Four, One Direction’s fourth album due out Nov. 17. “Steal” has peaked at No. 13 on the Hot 100 chart, and tumbles to No. 34 this week.

1D will be present and performing at this year’s American Music Awards, set to be broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre on Nov. 23. And next year, the U.K. group will be touring stadiums around the world on the follow-up to this year’s Where We Are tour.
