"New-agey Lionel Richie."
That's how Nick Jonas describes his new single, "Jealous," which is due for release on Sept. 7. "It is an uptempo song," Jonas told us at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. "It's kind of a new-agey Lionel Richie vibe, actually. It's pretty fun."
Artist Peter Tunney directed the video for "Jealous," which will premiere shortly after the single arrives.
"Jealous" is the follow-up to Jonas' single "Chains," which reached No. 31 on Billboard's Pop Digital Songs chart. It has sold 30,000 downloads in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, while its music video has earned 1.6 million global views on YouTube.
Both "Chains" and "Jealous" will be featured on Jonas' upcoming self-titled solo album, a release date for which has not been announced. The set follows Jonas' Who I Am album, which was released in 2010 with his backing band The Administration. It debuted and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold 179,000.
